Frequently Asked Questions

What is Coaching?

ICF (International Coach Federation) defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.” Therefore, the coaching process is:

  • Short term
  • Formal and structured
  • Specific and measurable
  • Performance driven

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?

Coaching is a client-driven process focused on setting goals, creating outcomes, and managing personal change. It aims to help individuals move from a current state to a future state that is more desirable and in line with their purpose and values.

Therapy deals with healing pain, dysfunction, and conflict within an individual or relationship. The focus is often on resolving difficulties arising from the past that hamper an individual’s emotional functioning in the present, improving overall psychological functioning, and dealing with the present in more emotionally healthy ways.

What is the difference between a coach and a mentor?

A professional coach is trained to generate new perspectives to help individuals find their solutions rather than offer advice or opinions.

A mentor is an expert in a specific field or matter who provides wisdom and guidance based on their own experience.

What is your background and experience?

I have over 20 years of experience in the corporate and coaching world, I am well equipped with skills that allow me to provide my clients the tools necessary to achieve their unique needs. I hold a Master’s Degree in Science of Communication for business and organization and I am certified in emotional intelligence, neurolinguistic programming, and ontological coaching.

My licenses and certifications include:

  • EQ Coach: Six Seconds (2021)
  • ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC): International Coaching Federation (2020)
  • Executive Coach: Escuela Europea de Coaching (2014)
  • Strategic Counseling: Centro di Terapia Strategica (2009)
  • Neurolinguistics Programming Master Practitioner: NLP University (2021)
  • DISC Certified Practitioner (2023)
Do you offer a specific type of coaching?

I specialize in executive and leadership coaching. However, my approach and methodologies focus on changing how individuals communicate with themselves and others. Therefore, they apply to any communication issue or relationship, regardless of the context (i.e., personal or professional life).

How do I know if the coaching program has been successful?

In the initial sessions, we discuss your goals and agree on what you want to achieve by the end of the program.

We check the status of your goals and achievements and discuss your progress regularly, so you can evaluate if and how the coaching process has been helpful for you.

What if I don’t have goals or dreams to realize?

Coaching helps people get clarity on who they are and what they want out of their lives and careers. It may sound paradoxical, but “defining your goals” can be the scope of a coaching program if you are willing to build your vision and explore your purpose.

What is a laser-focus session?

It is a one-on-one 60 minutes session to enhance your communication techniques in preparation for a specific business meeting or event (e.g., a speaking engagement, negotiation meeting, job interview, etc.). You can book the laser-focus session only if you already know WHAT you want to achieve and need to work on HOW to achieve it. The single laser-focus session must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance and is not refundable if canceled within 48 hours. To book this session, I kindly ask you to submit a form providing information about the scope of the session. I reserve the right to cancel the session and process a refund if I think the goals or challenges could not be adequately covered in a single session.

Do you offer pro-bono services or special fees for not-for-profit organizations?

Yes, I do. Please set up a Discovery Call to discuss.

Executive & Career
Coaching FAQ

Do you use the same strategies for clients with similar problems?

Executive career coaching is not cookie cutter and can be as dynamic as each position within a company. As a result, I always focus on every individual’s unique behavior, mindsets, and beliefs. My dynamic strategies are adapted over time to meet specific needs of each client.

May I book a single coaching session?

Coaching is a process since it aims to generate new awareness, attitudes, and behaviors. Therefore, I recommend that my clients have a minimum of six sessions that, depending on the client, can run an average of 3-8 months and sometimes longer.

However, suppose you need help dealing with one particular business situation. For example, a speaking engagement, a negotiation meeting, a job interview, or a challenging conversation. In that case, you can book a laser-focused strategy session.

How much is this package?

Since my coaching is a dynamic process that unfolds overtime and at various speeds, I do not offer pre-priced packages.

I design coaching and training programs based on the specific needs of my clients. Therefore, fees vary based on client profile, program duration, topics to cover, and other variables. The quotation is provided in my complimentary Discovery Call.

What if I want to change my goals?

You can always decide to have a session on a topic that is not strictly related to the program goals or to change the goals along the way, as long as we discuss it beforehand.

What if I don’t have a goal or aspiration?

Coaching helps people get clarity on who they are and what they want out of their lives and careers. It may sound paradoxical, but “defining your goals” can be the scope of a coaching program if you’re willing to build your vision and explore your purpose.

Further, if you have an idea, I can guide you in the process of establishing your vision and pinpointing your goal during our Discovery Call.

What if my goal is not achievable?

Every goal is achievable with the right mindset, strategies, and tools in place. Oftentimes we discover that the success of the outcome is influenced by our ability to solve the issue at hand. My role is to assist when you’ve exhausted all options and feel stuck.

Team Effectiveness
Coaching FAQ

Do you use the same strategies for groups with similar problems?

Building an effective team training program is not a cookie cutter process and can be as dynamic as each member’s personality. Through my field observation, unique theoretical and experiential strategies, and my customized individual and team coaching sessions, we generate behavioral changes and ensure commitment as we work towards the predetermined goals established by the corporation.

May I book a single team coaching session?

Team coaching is a process since it aims to generate new awarenesses, attitudes, and behaviors. In every instance we are recalibrating the group to create deep-rooted systematic changes. Therefore, I recommend that my clients have a minimum of 3 sessions that, depending on the needs and size of the team, can run an average of 1-3 months.

What is the difference between Team Coaching and Training?

Team coaching and training are both form of development initiatives that business teams complete together. In a training workshop, the participants are focused on learning the contents and up-skilling oneself, while in team coaching sessions and my role is to transfer desirable knowledge and skills. In a team team coaching session team members are actively involved in the learning process. My role is to facilitate and challenge them to maximize their performance and adopt new and positive behaviors.

What is the difference between Team Coaching and Group Coaching?

Team Coaching consists of facilitating and challenging a real team to maximize its performance and enjoyment to achieve their common organizational goals. While Group Coaching is a facilitative process that leverages the resources and knowledge of a group of individuals working on a common theme but having different individual performance goals.

How much is this package?

Since my team effectiveness coaching is a dynamic process that unfolds overtime and at various speeds, I do not offer pre-priced packages.

I design team effectiveness training programs based on the specific needs of your corporation – focusing on changed behavior through engaged activities. Therefore, fees vary based on the company’s profile, program duration, topics to cover, and other variables. The quotation is provided in my complimentary Discovery Call.

Are the Experiential Learning Workshops included in the cost of the package, or is this extra?

The Experiential Learning Workshops are conducted in conjunction with vendors who provide the space, supplies, and whatever materials are needed for the experience. I coordinate the activity and conduct it so your team gains insights on collaboration and trust. Experiential Learning is an additional fee (some of which pays the vendor) and needs to be planned well in advance.

Leadership Assessment
FAQ

What happens if someone tries to outsmart or trick the assessment tools?

The DISC assessment cannot be easily tricked. It is not always obvious what the answer “should” be (most and least is the basis, not a scale, and the algorithm is based on both). Some answers are designed as specific validity answers to ensure integrity.
The SEI assessment tool has some embedded controls to verify the reliability of the assessment against some of the most common psychometric issues, such as personal bias, answer style, and inconsistency.

Can your assessments be included in our employees’ performance appraisal?

Yes, the DISC and the SEI 360 assessment tools are largely used in the corporate environment to support the appraisal processes by collecting the individual’s self-assessment and feedback from various sources (managers, teams, and peers) on their behavioral style and leadership skills.

Do you include the leadership assessment in the individual coaching program?

Yes, if needed. Self-assessment tools can help clients become more aware of their behavioral patterns, emotions, and needs.

Can you include the assessment in the team coaching program?

Yes, the DISC assessment can be used to better understand and develop how well your team functions and performs.  It provides an overview of the combination of different behavioral styles within the team by measuring tendencies of observable behaviors and emotions.

Can these assessments be used in the recruiting process?

Yes, the DISC assessment, in particular, can be used to evaluate how an internal or external candidate might fit into a specific professional role based on their behavioral style, which includes the ability to dominate problems, influence people, steady the environment, and comply with rules and details.

May I book a single assessment only?

Yes, the cost may vary based on your chosen assessment and in which form (self-assessment or 360) you want to take. It will include my support to the assessment administration, a copy of the tool-generated report, and a debrief session in which I will help you understand the results and provide you with any clarification you might need.
